An idea that we had for voting was the use of a polling system that allows the viewer to be able to vote on which one they preferred either due to: The context, The detail in the research, Best Presentation and Best paper overall. At the end of day one or day two the polling system would have narrowed down each conference/ research paper into awarding categories, there will be a brief recap/summary of each paper/conference again just before a final vote takes place.
The final poll will ask you to vote for awarding categories of best paper and best presentation through a narrowed down list that were successful and had the most votes over the previous day/days.
This system would be similar to how they carry out votes on The Eurovision, The voice, Im a celebrity get me out of here, etc for example and other TV voting shows.
Interactive voting has been used by many people all across the world and is very popular with tv shows and quiz shows, where the viewer would usually pay via their mobile network to vote.
