Synopsis
Collaborative European Research Conference also known as CERC is an annual event that has been running since 2011, It brings together a wide range of researchers from all disciplines across Europe and exchanges to foster knowledge and collaboration.
Project aim
Our project aim is to have a simple and engaging voting system that creates an experience for the user. The voting system is also secure for the event to ensure there aren’t any voting frauds. Whether the event is online or in person, the voting system will still be secure because of the NFC log-ins for everyone who signs up for the event.
Background
In 2011 CERC began and was the basis of exchanging research and knowledge through a conference system which gave listeners and viewers the opportunity to vote on what they consider a good paper or presentation. However, over the years there has been an issue with the security elements as well as the interface as a whole, with the move to virtual conferences in 2020 with a pandemic on the rise, An interface that is clear and concise while also being attractive and secure is required now more than ever.
Given the importance of the interface and its security elements, it is important to develop a greater understanding of it’s structures and components. This project aims to provide an interface that is attractive and encourages voters to get involved as well as protecting users and their data through more defined security model that will incorporate the use of NFC, allowing users to log in swiftly and securely.
Objectives.
- Design a clear and simple app following CERC’s visual identity (colours, fonts)
- Voting security with scanning NFC on personalised lanyard
- Designing elements which create an experience
- reaction emojis
- create voting tune – for when it’s time to vote
- stamp on account name saying “I voted” when the user votes
- virtual confetti on phone when someone wins and a round of applause
Team Roles
For this project we will be working as a collective in all aspects. We believe with our very different design aesthetics, the variety will give us the best possible outcome.
Timetable
- For the first 3 weeks of this project we have been in the stage of developing ideas. During this stage, we have explored our project brief and developed ideas around it
- From week 4 to week 7, we will be researching our final concepts and beginning to create prototypes. On this stage we will, all aesthetic elements will be decided, such as colour schemes, general aesthetic, tone etc. we will also propose the layout of the interface and all its functions.
- In week 8 to week 10, we will create our final prototype. All functional and aesthetic aspects of the project will be finalised. The interface will be created and all assisting assets.
- In week 11-13 only final tweaking will be done before submission.
